Despaigne is one of the hottest prospects in MMA, and he made his UFC debut against Michael Vera on Saturday night on the undercard of Sean O'Malley's bantamweight title defense against Michael Vera. In Miami, he met Josh Parisian, but the match was short-lived, with Despaigne competing with his adversary well enough to gain the Event of the Night distinction. He claimed the second-fastest knockout for a debuting heavyweight in UFC history in doing so, behind Todd Duffee's seven seconds against Tim Hague in 2009.
