Grime MC Dirty Danger has suing Rapper Chip over allegations that he owes royalty for his 'Coward's hit

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 9, 2022
Chipmunk, the chart-topping rapper who was formerly known as Chipmunk, has been brought to the High Court by a tumultuous actor who says he owes royalties from one of his biggest hits. With his 2015 album Coward, which was conceived as a 'diss track' against Tinie Tempah, the Oopsy Daisy (pictured inset) earned more than 32 million Spotify streams. However, Dirty Danger (pictured right) is suing after saying he and Chip decided over the phone to a 50/50 split of all royalties from the hit, which was taken from a 2005 song of the former's. A judge will now decide on the controversy over the foul-mouthed track, which also includes the following: 'F*** you and your dead chess moves.' Chip, who goes by Jahmaal Fyffe, is known for his fallouts with other rappers, including Tinie Tempah and Stormzy. Danger, whose real name is David Nkrumah, claims that Chip will be able to 'exploit' the track for his new song Coward in October 2015 on the assumption that Dirty Danger will get half of the track's earnings. The two rappers decided on the phone and then had to be rushed out that night as a result of Tinie Tempah's volley in their 'diss' clash,' according to the barrister. However, when the written contract for the use of the track was signed, it did not specify 'accounting for and payments of royalties earned by the track's use other than the mechanical license.'
