Players arrive dressed as ROCKY for the Devils game, while New Jersey stars 'The Sopranos' salutes the Sopranos' before their MetLife Stadium match in the NHL Stadium Series

The players from the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers embraced the spirit of local cult heros ahead of their NHL Stadium Series matchup. Rocky Balboa, the fictional boxer who hailed from Philadelphia in the famed film franchise, appeared at the game on Saturday. The team wore matching grey sweatsuits and black hats, with white towels around their necks, and white tape wrapped around their hands, much like Balboa's when preparing for his fights in the films.

Fans were left with little excitement after a tumultuous week of acquisitions as the NHL Trade Deadline came to a close at 3:00 p.m. ET on Friday. Although John Klingberg's trip to Minnesota and the first pair of brothers to trade for each other (Nick Ritchie to Calgary and brother Brett Ritchie went to Arizona), the bulk of the major contracts had been completed in the days leading up to the deadline. Legendary names like Patrick Kane and Jonathan Quick swapped teams, while highly coveted investments like Timo Meier, Vladimir Tarasenko, and Ryan O'Reilly all need to find new real estate.

The deadline is 2023 for NHL trade, so players will watch like Jakob Chychrun from now four days away

Now is the busiest time of year for general managers in the National Hockey League, and there has been no shortage of contracts being signed within clubs until the trade deadline on Friday. DailyMail.com highlighted seven players who may have moved on or before time is up in January. Five of those names have been published in new homes since being released. Bo Horvat, the Canucks' captain, has relocated to Long Island. Both forward Vladimir Tarasenko and their captain, forward Ryan O'Reilly, have been released by the St. Louis Blues. Timo Meier was wished well by San Jose as he was sent off to New Jersey. Patrick Kane left Chicago to join the Rangers just on Tuesday.
