Life and career

Timothy James Rice-Oxley was born in Oxford to Charles Patrick and Margaret Rice-Oxley. Tom, his younger brother, was born in 1979. No ticket required! How to enjoy Glasto from your armchair: As the world's most famous music festival begins, ADRIAN THRILLS sifts through the hours of BBC TV's coverage

www.dailymail.co.uk, June 27, 2024
This year's TV marathon gets underway as The One Show broadcasts live from Worthy Farm (BBC1, 7pm). But fans tuning in from noon on BBC iPlayer can catch the earlier acts. Don't miss Essex hit machine Anne-Marie, whose playful pop should make for the perfect curtain-raiser (BBC iPlayer, 6.45pm). Taking to the Pyramid Stage for the first time as a solo artist, the self-styled 'last king of pop' draws from a rich back catalogue. His repertoire features Housemartins hits such as Happy Hour plus the Beautiful South classics Rotterdam and A Little Time (BBC4, 7.30pm).

ADRIAN THRILLS: No wonder he's so Keane on middle age

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 2, 2022
ADRIAN THRILLS: Keane's debut album, Hopes And Fears, in 2004, was one of the few bands to sing of youth as well as Keane. The Sussex company framed their salad days on a track like Somewhere We Know and Everybody's Changing, launching a career that saw their first five LPs top the UK charts. Capturing the mood swings of a swollen yet unbowed forty-something is less glamorous, but it's what Tom Chaplin is trying to do on his new solo album, Midpoint. The singer, 43, came to a close when Keane's Cause And Effect tour was cancelled due to the pandemic, and he began writing songs summing up his middle-age thoughts.
