Thomas Brag and Ammar Kandil, of the Yes Theory YouTube channel, set out on a mission to spend a night at the Margherita Hut, which is perched at 14,941ft atop a mountain in Italy. In a short film documenting their adventure, the duo explain that getting to the refuge is 'no simple feat' and it involves a 'treacherous and dangerous multi-day journey that takes patience, expertise and athleticism to accomplish.'

The sole inhabitant of Europe's highest and most isolated village has revealed that it is a powerful sense of duty which keeps him living there. Irakl Khvedaguridze, 84, is the only licensed doctor in the remote Tusheti region of Georgia, which covers about 380 square miles. While everyone has left his village, Borchorna, Irakl has remained put with his trusty horse, Bichola, serving as his only round-year companion.

The survivors of a Soviet-era town in eastern Kazakhstan, where 456 bombs were detonated on their doorstep, have described the devastating effect the explosions had on their health, with cancer and severe birth defects. Thomas Brag and Staffan Taylor, a filmmaker, travelled to Kurchatov, a top-secret town established in 1947 as the Soviet Union's nuclear program's headquarters. It wasn't even evident on maps at the time.
