Thae Yong-ho, a South Korean diplomat, was once a high-ranking North Korean diplomat before he defected to South Korea in 2016. Thae was elected to serve in the top council of South Korea's ruling People Power Party, making him the first defector to enter a South Korean political party's leadership. In a radio Free Asia interview, Thae said: "I think the North Korean regime will never make it to the fourth generation with Kim Ju Ae." The North Korean regime has vehemently deteriorated in a turbulent and chaotic direction over the past decade since Kim Jong Un took power.' Thae said that there were ever-changing participants in military and government leadership, resulting in "no agreement or cooperation" between Kim Jong Un and the leaders surrounding him.
