Career
On NBC, he was supposed to co-host for the original American version of the motoring television series Top Gear, and filmed a pilot before the series was cancelled. Since the History Channel and Foust's only pilot host to be picked up when the show first made it on air in the United States in late 2010, it has since been picked up by the History Channel and Foust. He has appeared on various television shows, including SPEED Channel's Exposed, SPEED Channel's Redline TV, and ESPN's Import Tuners. He made his debut on the History Channel series Top Gear, the American version of the BBC's hit series of the same name on November 21, 2010.
Foust has been a stunt driver on films including The Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift, Ford vs. Ferrari, Need For Speed, and The Dukes of Hazzard, and has held multiple world records with Hot Wheels and Top Gear. He was a popular participant in the Formula Drift series, winning the 2007 and 2008 championships. Foust is the first driver in Formula Drift history to win back-to-back series championships. With nine medals, he is the most decorated driver in X Games history. Foust first participated in X Games XIII, where he took the gold in the rally racing event. In 2009, he was also involved in Rally America. In 2010 at X Games XVI, he won gold in Rally Car Rally and Rally Car Super Rally, as the Rockstar Energy Ford Fiesta. He also competed in the European Rallycross Championship, becoming the first American to do so. After leaving the drifting scene in favour of RallyCross in 2011, Foust became a regular ERC competitor, taking part in 9 of the FIA recognized series's ten rounds as well as Global RallyCross, winning the title. With another Global RallyCross title in 2012, Foust maintained his triumph.
Foust is a registered member of the United States Federation of Athletics who competed in both racing events at X Games XIX Los Angeles, winning a gold medal in Gymkhana Grid and silver in RallyCross. These were his eighth and ninth X Games medals.
He started shooting the sixth and final season of Top Gear in 2015, netting 72 episodes.
Foust announced a new collaboration with Volkswagen and Andretti Autosport at the Chicago Auto Show in February 2014. In the inaugural season of the FIA World Rallycross Championship, he rode a Volkswagen New Beetle for the 2014 Global RallyCross Championship season, as well as selected events with Marklund Motorsport. He became the first and so far only driver from outside Europe to win a round of the championship, winning the 2014 World RX of Finland. Foust has been named from Global Rallycross to America's Rallycross and Nitro Rallycross, and has won the NRX title in 2019. He has the longest running streak in rallycross worldwide at 25 years, and is currently the top driver in the United States.
