Tanmay Bhat, Gursimran Khamba, Rohan Joshi, and Ashish Shakya co-founded All India Bakchod as a YouTube channel in 2013. They shot sketches, performed stand-up comedy, and co-wrote shows as a comedy group. The comedy company became a creative company by early 2015, delivering branded content for corporate clients. Short spoofs and mimicry-based sketches were used in AIB's first foray into YouTube. Song parodies continued to perform stereotypical situations and play on a lot of nostalgia in their work. They popularized the term "Honest Indian" as a satirical trope that could be used in a variety of situations. Bollywood actors, international and Indian comedians, and filmmakers were among their podcast followers and collaborators.

In May 2016, Bhat released a Snapchat video mimicking Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar, arguing about who has the highest performer. The video caused a lot of debate over its portrayal, some of whom were insulting and appalling, while others found it amusing and witty. Following this, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena filed an FIR against him and Mumbai police wrote to Google and YouTube demanding that the video be deleted.

The comedian was arrested in 2017 and an FIR was lodged against him for posting a meme of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Snapchat.

Mahima Kukreja, a writer and comedian who worked with All India Bakchod, accused YouTuber Utsav Chakraborty of sending her and other women lewd messages and photographs through social media platforms in October 2018. At the time, Bhat was AIB's CEO. Several comedians within Chakraborty's circle, including Tanmay Bhat, were aware of the allegations of bullying but decided not to speak out and work with him. For the time being, AIB announced on October 8th that Bhat will immediately "be stepping away" from his AIB role for the time being. Bhat was barred from the panel of judges for the second season of Comicstaan due to the charges.

Bhat was no longer suspended, but it was barred from the CEO role, according to AIB in May 2019. Bhat admitted to clinical depression in videos posted on Instagram, angering Mahima Kukreja and fellow comedian Aditi Mittal, who accused Bhat of using depression as a positive and stereotyped his claims as insincere.

In November 2019, Bhat returned to YouTube for the Battlegrounds. Tanmay Bhat's 'Honestly by Tanmay Bhat', his second channel, also featured experts in various fields.

In January 2020, Bhat teamed up with YouTuber Saiman Says to bring in several comedians, including Sorabh Pant, Ajey Nagar, Kaneez Surka and Zakir Khan, for the "Mathon 2020" live stream. In reaction to the deforestation drive at Aarey Milk Colony, the stream was an 8-hour live session with people playing the game Getting Over It to help Mission Green Mumbai and raise funds to plant as many trees as possible.

In early April 2020, Bhat and Kaneez Surka hosted an 8-hour live stream for two days, raising over Rs 1.7 million for charities fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. Rohan Joshi, Kaneez Surka, Bhuvan Bam, Anuvab Pal, Varun Grover, and Kusha Kapila all participated in multiplayer online games with fellow comedians Rohan Joshi, Kaneez Surka, Bhuvan Bam, Anuvab Pal, Kusha Kapila.

"British In 2020, Netflix India began a series with Bhat reacting to various movies and TV shows on Netflix called "Tanmay Reacts." On his own channel, Tanmay also posts about memes and videos.

Bhat co-wrote scripts for numerous commercials for the financial services company Cred, which starred actors and others including Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Bappi Lahiri, Ravi Shastri, Anil Kapoor, Kapil Dev, and Neeraj Chopra.
