Sylvester Lefort Career

Professional wrestling career

Lance Storm at the Storm Wrestling Academy brought La Ruffa together in 2006 and began training in 2006.

La Ruffa made his debut in the squared circle on November 19, 2006, after losing a match at Power Zone Wrestling in Canada.

During a two-week tour of La Réunion in the Indian Ocean under the name of Eagle Mask, La Ruffa made his International Catch Wrestling Alliance debut and lost to the UK Pitbulls on January 13, 2007. La Ruffa joined Robert Ray to compete in the Lethal Lottery Tag Team tournament and advanced to the finals of the tournament before being knocked out by Big Dave and Charlie Rage. He was a singles participant in the ICWA 16 Carat Gold tournament in the preliminary qualification match against Bulk, but he would lose to Bulk. He competed in several other French competitions, including Association Biterroise de Catch, The Fighting Spirit Federation, and Queen of Chaos, for the most part of 2007. He toured with Nu Wrestling Evolution in Italy, where he met the world champion Romeo Roselli in the summer of 2007. He played in both Eagle Mask and Tom LaRuffa in 2007 and didn't lose any matches in the competition.

In June 2008, he returned to France. He lost to Metal Master in the semi-final of the ICWA's Japan Expo 2008 tournament in Paris. He was also teamed with Bryan Danielson on the same trip. In an unsuccessful bid for the ICWA World Heavyweight Championship, he took on Joe E. Legend on August 2. In a no disqualification match that Yan Colby won, LaRuffa defeated Yan Colby in a no disqualification; the loser loses his ICWA championship, which Yan Colby won.

In September 2007, La Ruffa will train at the NWA Pro Dojo in San Bernardino, California. He underwent additional training with Rocky Romero, Karl Anderson, and T. J. Perkins. He will make his Mexican debut in October when competing on Lucha Libre shows in Mexicali. On October 20, he will also attend the fabled Cow Palace Fan Festival in San Francisco, where he teamed with TNA's Lance Hoyt to fight Shark Boy and Abyss. On November 4, La Ruffa would make his Empire Wrestling Federation debut as the French Stallion and defeat the Country Bear. La Ruffa would form multiple tag teams during the month of November, which never quite worked out because he lost all his tag team matches. He lost to Ronin in his last match for about a year.

Tom helped Lance Storm in training his January 2008 camp from January to March 2008. He debuted in Stampede Wrestling on January 18, 2008, losing to T-Bone. He went on to work with several organisations in Alberta, including the Prairie Wrestling Alliance. Powerzone Wrestling, or Real Canadian Wrestling, is a competition between Brady Roberts and T-Bone Jack Sloan. In his return match, La Ruffa will return to EWF and defeating Rockstar Cordova on April 4, 2008. His 2008 tour will be much better than his 2007 tour. In a triple threat match against Human Tornado and Ryan Taylor, he advanced to face EWF Heavyweight Champion Brandon Gatson in a disappointing attempt. In his last few months at EWF, his tour of America will come to an end. While in EWF, La Ruffa worked with fellow Storm Wrestling Academy graduate and WWE developmental talent Mike Dalton. La Ruffa had several WWE try outs in California before heading back to Europe in mid-2008. He appeared briefly in the background of a backstage segment.

La Ruffa made his debut for Wrestling Stars on September 4, 2008, France's top honor and one of Europe's longest-running contests. While fighting against the continent's best competitors and making a name for himself through YouTube videos, La Ruffa enjoyed the bulk of his recent success, establishing himself as one of Europe's top talents. He took on a Greek warrior gimmick to pay homage to his family's roots in the United States. While in WS Tom was taken under the wings of famous French pro wrestlers, Flesh Gordon, Prince Zefy and Monsieur Jacky, and headlined shows all over his home country, with many wrestling three shows per week, 2 matches per night.

Sir Robin Lequimez, Murat Bosporus, Mikey Diamonds, (Mikey Whiplash, to whom he lost All Star Wrestling's World Mid-Heavyweight Championship in Croydon, UK, in March), Ghent Wakefiel and fellow French WS Star David Michel were among his greatest rivalries in WS.

Many press releases and TV appearances have mentioned his WS career. One of the most notable was a documentary about his life with the daughter of a top entrepreneur and a 40-year veteran of French rings, Flesh Gordon for NT1's Tous Differents TV show. The documentary, which aired on French television, a story about Tom and Lili (WS ring announcer at the time), how wrestling played in their marriage, particularly with Tom's forthcoming participation in France's national Catch Championship, and whether their love could survive all of these problems. It wasn't as Tom pursued his dream, and Lili decided to enroll in an acting class.

Tom became the first and only French pro wrestler to ever wrestle on Turkish soil against Murat Bosporus in May 2011.

Season One of the World of Hurt series, La Ruffa's biggest success nationally was the World of Hurt series. Lance Storm will instruct ten former students to help them make it to the next level in a reality documentary television series. In what many consider a show stealing effort, La Ruffa portrayed the "French Stallion" character as the most arrogant, obnoxious, and attention seeking jerk ever. The series premiered in December 2010 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and it debuted in May 2011.

La Ruffa, a local wrestler, appeared on SmackDown as a single wrestler who lost a handicap match against Big Show in November 2011. WWE signed La Ruffa to a developmental deal in August 2012. La Ruffa took up the ring name Sylvester Lefort, and his NXT television debut took place on May 29, 2013 as he (as a wealthy Frenchman) over Travis Tyler and Baron Corbin in WWE's growing territory, NXT Wrestling. Dylan and Dawson were fired from WWE in August 2013 after losing a number one contender match for the NXT Tag Team Championship to Corey Graves and Kassius Ohno on the June 26 episode of NXT, but Lefort continued to oversee Dawson. Alexander Rusev was also in charge of managing Alexander Rusev. In a win over Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady, Rusev made his NXT in-ring debut teaming with Rusev. Rusev took Lefort during the match and sided with Lana's debutant Lana. In a singles match, Lefort went on to lose to Rusev. Lefort took on singles wrestling after Dawson was injured, losing to Mason Ryan in early 2014.

Lefort formed "The Legionnaires" with Marcus Louis, a French gimmick based on their French roots. They lost in their first televised match on the May 8 NXT losing to a debuting Kalisto & El Local, then on December 19, in a triple threat tag team elimination match against Colin Cassady and Angelo Dawkins, and The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor), which was won by Cassady and Dawkins. The Legionnaires began a feud with Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady on May 8 NXT. Lefort was defeated in a Hair vs. Hair contest at NXT Takeover: Fatal 4-Way, but he didn't adhere to the stipulation post-match and instead went elsewhere, leaving his partner Louis with a bucket of hair removal cream dumped on his head. Lefort took revenge on Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady over the next weeks. Louis finally snapped and turned on Lefort during a tag match on October 16 of NXT.

Lefort returned to team with Jason Jordan on June 24, 2015, after an 8-month absence from NXT programming, in a losing attempt to Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady. Lefort began Managing Billie Kay at the NXT house in November 2015. La Ruffa had been fired from his WWE contract on February 5, 2016, according to the WWE.

During the Impact Wrestling tapings, La Ruffa (sporting a new bald look) and Pierre Marceau made their TNA debuts, losing to the BroMines (Robbie E and Jessie Godderz). La Ruffa was renamed "Basile Baraka" after being signed to TNA on March 23, and they became a member of the United Kingdom National Emergency Response Agency (TN). Baraka and Baron Dax made their television debut on Impact Wrestling's May 24 episode, criticizing Grado and Mahabali Shera, aligning himself with Al Snow. The faction revealed their name as "The Tribunal" on the following episode of Impact Wrestling. Baraka and Dax were victorious at a Slammiversary against Grado and Shera, who won. The Tribunal entered in a 4-Way match for the TNA World Tag Team Championship on June 14 but failed to win the tournament. Dax, the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, was undefeated at Turning Point, but the team did not win the tournament.

Baraka won the Gold Battle Royal in Gauntlet, which was won by Eli Drake. The Tribunal had a shot at the TNA World Tag Team Championship on October 20 but lost to The Hardys. Mahabali Shera saved the rescue on the November 10 episode of Impact Wrestling as The Tribunal brutally attacked Al Snow, bringing an end to their marriage. The Tribunal was in their last match for TNA, losing a Double Strap Match to Snow and Shera on December 8th episode of Impact Wrestling. Baraka had left TNA on December 10, according to a TNA spokesperson.

La Ruffa is currently employed in various capacities under the ring name Tom LaRuffa.

La Ruffa represented France in the WCPW Pro Wrestling World Cup. He lost his first round match against Jurn Simmons, who was representing Holland.
