Susi Pudjiastuti (born 15 January 1965) is an Indonesian entrepreneur.
Under President Joko Widodo's 2014-2019 Working Cabinet, she served as Indonesia's Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
She is also the owner of PT ASI Pudjiastuti Marine Product, a seafood export business, and PT ASI Pudjiastuti Aviation, which operates Susi Air charter airline.
Early life, family, and education
Pudjiastuti was born in Pangandaran, West Java, the daughter of Haji Ahmad Karlan and Hajjah Suwuh Lasminah. She is Javanese, but her family is the fifth generation settlers of Pangandaran, which is mainly Sundanese. Her family's business was primarily involved in real estate and livestock raising.
Pudjiastuti continued high school at SMA Negeri 1 Yogyakarta, but did not complete her studies after being banned from serving Golput (Golongan Putih, or blank ballot in protest of the Golkar Party's clout, a protest that was outlawed under former President Suharto's New Order. Pudjiastuti was the first Indonesian minister to have never completed a high school education, but after becoming a government minister, she registered for a late high school program (Paket C), and she officially graduated in 2018.
Susi Pudjiastuti had three children; Panji Hilmansyah, Nadine Kaiser, and Alvy Xavier all appeared. Panji Hilmansyah, her first son, died in Naples, Florida, on January 18, 2016, due to heart disease. Susi is divorced, and she is known to have tattoos and be a chain-smoker.
