Susan Richardson (born March 11, 1952) is a retired American actress best known for her appearance on the television series Eight Is Enough, in which she appeared from 1977 to 1981.
Early life
Richardson, a native of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, first started acting in plays in high school. In 1969, she graduated from Coatesville, Pennsylvania, and then moved to Hollywood.
Personal life
Richardson married Michael Virden on March 15, 1978, and shortly after became pregnant, which was also written into Eight Is Enough. Sarah, their daughter, was born on February 27, 1980. Richardson would lose her career if she didn't shed her pregnancy weight, according to a rumor; she had gained 90 lb (41 kg). She discovered it was difficult to slim down by traditional means, she started using cocaine. Richardson sustained a debilitating tailbone injury while doing a show at Eight Is Enough.

Richardson appeared in feature films American Graffiti (1973) and A Star Is Born (1976), and she appeared on the television series Happy Days and The Streets of San Francisco. Richardson was selected to play the fourth child in the Bradford family on Eight is Enough, just six years since moving to the West Coast.
Richardson appeared in two installments of Battle of the Network Stars (May 1979 and December 1980), as well as several appearances on The $20,000 Pyramid, Password Plus, and Match Game, as well as other family feud contests in addition to a one-hour All-Star episode of Family Feud in 1978 and a three-episode celebrity tournament on the daytime version in May 1979.
