Sue Foley (born March 29, 1968) is a Canadian blues singer and guitarist.

Early life

Foley was born in Ottawa, Ontario, and spent her early childhood in Canada. She began playing guitar at the age of 13, became involved in blues music from listening to the Rolling Stones, and appeared in her first gig at age 16. She migrated to Vancouver, where she formed The Sue Foley Band and toured Canada after high school graduation. The Sue Foley Band formed 1988-1989 with Mark Hummel, who performed extensively throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, as well as recording an album. In 1989, a three-year agreement was up for a year with 300 dates on the road. When the band was in Memphis for the Handy Awards this year, Clifford Antone saw Foley alongside Duke Robillard.

Career

Foley was living in Austin, Texas, United States, and recording for Antone's, the blues label, and the legendary nightclub by age twenty-one. Young Girl Blues was her first release.

Foley has toured regularly with her band, debuting her signature pink paisley Fender Telecaster. Love Coming Down, her 2001 Grammy Award-winning album, was a winner. Foley has also received seventeen Maple Blues Awards as well as three Trophees de Blues de France. She has also received multiple nominations at the Blues Music Awards in Memphis, Tennessee.

Foley's album, The Ice Queen, featured guest appearances by Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top and Jimmie Vaughan, marking her return as a solo artist.

Foley received a Blues Music Award in the 'Koko Taylor Award (Traditional Blues Female)' category in May 2020.
