I'm a country girl who moved to Sydney and discovered that life in the city isn't any better

Tori Allen, 20, (left and centre), lived in the country for most of her life, but she moved to Orange (inset), in the Central Tablelands area of NSW, where she began her career. Because she lives in a flat, neighbors are always just meters away, which she says is the thing she misses the most about country life. She also protested overcrowding (shoppers in Sydney's CBD seen bottom right), unclean beaches littered with garbage (Rose Bay seen top right), and irresponsible dog owners (Rose Bay seen top right).

According to new data from the Regional Australia Institute, Australians cite the cost of living in urban centers, high anxiety, and traffic as the reasons for leaving. Steven Wright (main) moved to Broken Hill four years ago.

CRAIG BROWN: A laughing robot? Get the other one out of the picture

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 22, 2022
CRAIG BROWN: Scientists in Japan are said to have created a robot with a sense of humor. Researchers at Kyoto University have programmed their robot to a) detect laughter, b) determine whether or not to laugh, or not not to laugh, and c) choose the type of laughter - cackle, smirk, splutter, or chuckle - she chooses appropriate. I hate to pour cold water on Erica, but it doesn't appear that she will ever be the life and soul of a party.
