Will Smith is set to star in a new sci-fi thriller, called Resistor, based on New York Times bestselling author Daniel Suarez's 2014 novel Influx. The 55-year-old Oscar winner has reportedly been 'developing the project for years' alongside American film producer, Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, Jon Mone and Tony Shaw of Escape Artists. Heather Washington is executive producing while Dave Wilson will serve as a producer. Screenwriter, Zak Olkewicz, who wrote and produced Bullet Train (2022), penned the first draft. Eric Singer is responsible for writing the latest draft. At this time, the 'film is in development and currently in search of a director,' according to Variety .

According to reports, Netflix has cancelled plans for a huge comeback movie based on a hit 80s series. The Masters of the Universe, based on He-Man and other Mattel characters, was supposed to be revitalized, with new initiatives now in place since 2019. Variety announced on July that David Harbour and Pedro Pascal will be included in a new limited HBO series titled "My Dentist's Murder Trial." The show will be based on a James Lasdun article "My Dentist's Murder Trial: Adultery, False Identities, and a Lethal Sedation," which chronicled how dentist Dr. Gilberto Nunez was charged with (and eventually dismissed of) the murder of Thomas Kolman.
Harbour and Pascal are also executive producing the series, which has been acquired by HBO, and Steve Conrad will direct the first episode, while also executive producing and directing. Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, Bruce Terris, Molly Allen, James Lasdun, and MGM Television are among the executive producers.
