Secondary school teachers are to go on strike over poor classroom behaviour, ahead of major GCSE and A-Level exams for pupils. St Edward's College in West Derby, Liverpool, will close tomorrow as staff take part in the strike action, having already walked out on Tuesday. The National Education Union said 60 of its members will take part in the industrial action after 'negotiations broke down in a trade dispute centred around pupil behaviour last week'. A letter from St Edward's College, sent to parents and carers, said the school has met with the NEU many times over the previous term 'to provide action and reassurance about various issues, including behaviour, equipment for teaching and directed time'.

When it was stolen between Farringdon and East Croydon railway stations, the valuable Brannen silver Millennium 5320 (pictured with Katherine, left) was in a beige rucksack (inset, top). Ms Bryan wrote, "Today my beloved flute was stolen." On the 9.34 train to Brighton, it was in a beige rucksack robbed between Platform 3 and East Croydon Stations. The Flute is a stainless Lafin headjoint w/gold lip plate, according to the Brannen silver Millennium 5320. Please share! ' The British Transport Police has opened an inquiry into the robbery and is requesting witnesses to come forward.

Murray stabbed a policeman in the chest and hurled abuse while she was arrested for being obstesful toward bar workers. In another, she called a barmaid a 'p****' when she was denied alcohol and was later accused of calling a coworker a 'P*** b******' when she was kicked out. Later, she cited Macclesfield itself, which was named as one of the UK's best and worst places, as a factor in her behaviour, saying: "I just don't like the town."

After a fight over £20, two murderers who beat their victim in a'savage' assault dragged him down the street and left him dead in an old utility box. Blaine Hammond, 22, was discovered with multiple head injury on Saltburn Road in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. On December 2, Anthony Keating and Louis Whelan left him with 13 blows to his head as well as other catastrophic injuries, including abrasions and fractures. The Newcastle crown court heard doctors and paramedics were on the scene, but nothing could be done to save his life.
