Stephanie Leonidas (born 14 February 1984) is an English actress.
Helena is perhaps best known for her appearances in MirrorMask and as Irisa on the American science fiction television series Defiance.
Personal life
Leonidas was born in Westminster, London, and the daughter of a Greek Cypriot father and an English mother. She also has Welsh ancestry through her mother. Dimitri and her younger brother Georgina are both actors. On New Year's Eve 2016, she married fellow actor Robert Boulter.
Career
Leonidas began performing in community theatre when she was eight years old; at nine, she acquired an agent and began working in television.
Notable credits include the television drama Daddy's Girl, the soap opera Night and Day, and a 2004 episode of Doc Martin (entitled 'Of All the Harbours in All the Towns), in which Melanie, a local Portwenn 15-year-old girl who has an unhealthy obsession with the surgeon, has a serious interest in him. Helena and the Dark Princess appeared in both Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean's MirrorMask in 2005. She continued to appear in a BBC adaptation of Dracula as well as Crusade in Jeans. Adela was also in a production of Lorca's The House of Bernarda Alba at Coventry's Belgrade Theatre, and Dani in The Sugar Syndrome, which was performed at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs, London in 2003. Lizzie Loveridge, a reviewer, said she gave a performance "way beyond her years" in this new film.
Leonidas appeared in the BBC docudrama Atlantis, which aired on BBC One and BBC One HD on May 8, 2011. Influence, a play by Shem Bitterman, was also in 2011 for the Transatlantyk Festival. Leonidas then joined Dave McKean to work on the film Luna, which was released in 2014. She appeared in the science fiction TV series Defiance, which ran for three seasons, as Irisa Nolan.
