Ronald Stacey King (born January 29, 1967) is an American sports announcer and retired National Basketball Association (NBA) center who won three consecutive championships with the Chicago Bulls from 1991 to 1993.
King is currently the lead color commentator for Chicago Bulls television broadcasts.
NBA career (1989–1999)
King was selected by the Bulls in the 1989 NBA draft with the sixth pick after a standout career at the University of Oklahoma. Many thought he was a number one pick candidate going into draft night, but it fell. He was one of three first-round picks by the Bulls (the other two were B. J. Armstrong and Jeff Sanders). He spent four and a half seasons in Chicago before being traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1993-94 for 7'2" Australian-born center Luc Longley. He was last in action in the NBA during the 1996-97 season while playing for both the Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics.
Post NBA career
In 2001, King was appointed as the head coach of the Rockford Lightning in the CBA. With King as head coach, the team reached the CBA championship game in 2002.
King began his CSN Chicago as a studio analyst for pre- and post-game shows for the Chicago Bulls. During the 2006 playoffs, Johnny "Red" Kerr and Tom Dore joined him as a third commentator. During the 2007 season, he was inactive for life. Tom Dore was brought back by Neil Funk and Kerr in 2008, allowing King to become the Bulls' lead color commentator alongside Neil Funk. On NBC Sports Chicago, King is now serving as a color commentator for the Chicago Bulls television broadcasts.
The King's fame as an announcer has only increased as a result of his zealous enthusiasm as well as his common catch-phrases and names. When he was with the Bulls, King has drew a lot of attention. He had to say highlights.
