Simon Edward Amor (born 25 April 1979) is an English rugby union footballer who competed scrum-half or fly-half for London Scottish and is a former England Sevens captain.
He is the new Head Coach of the England Sevens.
Early life
Amor was educated at Denmead Preparatory School, Hampton School, St. Mary's University College (Twickenham) and Cambridge University. He was a blue for Cambridge University RFC's 2000 Varsity Rugby Match against Oxford University RFC at Twickenham Stadium, and went on to graduate with a Certificate in Management Studies. He also completed an MBA when not playing competitive rugby.
Playing career
Amor started his rugby career at London Ireland, where he competed as a junior before joining the senior squad. Amor began working with Gloucester in the summer of 2002. He has competed for Harlequins, London Irish, Blackheath, Coventry, and the Rugby Lions. Although at Gloucester he was a replacement in the 2003 Powergen Cup Final, in which Gloucester defeated Northampton Saints.
Amor was representing the England Sevens at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in August 2002, winning a silver medal. In 2003, he was part of the England squad against the Barbarian F.C. Twickenham is a comedy set in Twickenham. Amor was the first IRB Sevens Player of the Year in December 2004. England defeated Hong Kong 7s four times by Amor.
Amor was instrumental in Gloucester's victory at the Middlesex Sevens in August 2005.
Amor joined London Wasps in May as the replacement for their retiring scrum-half, Matt Dawson. Amor was the key playmaker in London Wasps' victory at the Middlesex Sevens in August 2006.
