Josh Bassett Career

Club career

Bassett played youth rugby for Ampthill RUFC, where he helped the Under-17s win the National Bowl with a try in the final — the team lost only one game all season.

Bassett appeared for Bedford Blues in the RFU Championships. Bassett was promoted from the academy in 2010 and made a regular starter shortly. Since becoming a regular try scorer for the Blues, he was linked to a number of Premiership squads.

Bassett had signed for Wasps for the 2013/14 season on April 3, 2013. He will play for England, Nathan Morris, and Alec Hepburn, who competed at the 2012 junior World Cup.

Bassett was made redundant, as well as all other players and coaching staff, when they first came into office on October 17th, 2022. Harlequins' Daniel Harlequins was given the news just short of being drafted to his Premiership rivals Harlequins until the end of the season.

International career

Bassett has appeared on numerous occasions for the England Under 20s, including a trip to South Africa for the 2012 IRB Junior World Rugby Championships.

Bassett was called up to the England Senior Men's training squad for the summer series in June 2021.

England is struggling behind Dombrandt to lift Quins as the nation's most popular 'beast' Dombrandt

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 15, 2023
The England no8 and Quins captain may have struggled with his country, but his brace of attempts here helped the Londoners' slim hopes of a top-four finish as the Premiership competition heats up. Steve Borthwick was in the crowd watching, and boss Tabai Matson was enthused: "He was extraordinary in the second half.' In the end, his physical fitness and those of the other carries were significant. He has lines that not many loose forwards do.'

Brad Shields and Dan Robson will play for the Barbarians against Northampton Saints next month

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 20, 2022
Brad Shields and Dan Robson, both retired England captains, will play for the Barbarians against Northampton Saints next month after being rendered unemployed by Wasps' demise. When the Coventry-based side officially announced administration on Monday, Shields and Robson were two of the 167 Wasps workers who immediately lost their positions. Josh Bassett, the first Wasps player to move on after signing for Harlequins until the season's end, became the first Wasps player to move on. However, many of his former coworkers are already kicking their heels and searching for new clubs, including Shields and Robson. The Barbarians have given the pair a short-term lifeline.
