Career
"Even Exchange" and "The Furies" were among Horta's many as yet unproduced screenplays, including "Even Exchange" and "The Furies" (with Nip/Tuck creator Ryan Murphy). Horta wrote the screenplay for the 1998 teen satirical hit slasher film Urban Legend before returning to Ugly Betty, and he can be seen on the DVD commentary. He was working as a perfume spritzer before Legend.
Horta was also the creator of two short lived sci-fi television shows Jake 2.0, which starred Christopher Gorham and was later to appear in The Chronicle and Ugly Betty. "Because most of us, Betty is an immigrant, and The American Dream is alive and well, and is within reach of anyone who wants it," Betty said.
Horta established "Silent H Productions," a name that was meant to convey a nodoing of the silent H in Horta's last name. In 2011, his production company entered a contract with Sony.
