Life and career
Colloca was born in Milan, Loredana, and Mario Colloca. She appeared in Van Helsing, her first film role, in which she played Verona, one of Dracula's brides. It received mostly critical feedback, but it was a box office hit. She married Australian actor Richard Roxburgh, who appeared in Dracula in the film, on September 25, 2004, in Montalto, Italy. They have two sons, Raphael Jack Domenico Roxburgh born in 2007 and Miro Gianni David Roxburgh born in 2010, as well as a daughter, Luna Roxburgh born in 2017. The family now resides in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
Colloca is an opera-trained mezzo-soprano who appeared in Italy as a musical theatre performer before becoming a film actor.
Silvia Colloca has been praised by the Australian press for her role as Orfeo in the Spectrum Now 2015 production of Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice, directed by Shannon Murphy. Diana Simmonds lauded Colloca's performance in Stage Noise: "Orfeo's agony is magnificently realised by Colloca's vivacious, pure and robust mezzo soprano, as well as her dramatic dramatic range, making Orfeo's decision to make Orfeo a ambiguous and stumbling figure. In the early scenes that made the tragedy immediately tangible, she projects both masculine and feminine, as well as unabashed emotion.
Colloca premiered The Queen in Opera Queensland's newly-commissioned Opera "Snow White," which was on display during the Brisbane festival in 2016. Silvia Colloca's performance captured the hearts of theatregoers and critics once more. Colloca's work, according to the Sydney Morning Herald, is "extraordinary as the mother": her sexiness and vulnerability weave around each other seamlessly throughout the piece, and she successfully navigates the highs and lows that her character has been gifted. Her eventual demise is a joy to watch.
Silvia has also been dubbed a producer, designer, and writer of her shows.
Marion Grasby began her own YouTube channel in 2017 and continued her partnership with her. The couple's show "Wok X Pot" premiered in late 2018.
