Shankar Mahadevan (born 3 March 1967) is an Indian singer and composer who is a member of the Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy composition trio for Indian films.
Personal life and early career
Shankar Mahadevan was born in Chembur, Mumbai, to a Tamil-speaking family from Palakkad, Kerala. He discovered Hindustan classical and Carnatic music as an infant and began playing the veena under Shri Lalitha Venkataraman at the age of five. Mahadevan studied music under Pandit Shrinivas Khale and T.R. Balamani is a form of simplification.
Mahadevan, alumnus of Our Lady of Perpetual High School, Chembur, graduated 1988 with a degree in Computer Science and Software Engineering from the Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology in Navi Mumbai, Mumbai, which is affiliated to Mumbai University, and was a software engineer for Leading Edge, Inc.
