Shane Summers Life

Shane Lister Summers (23 June 1936 – 1 June 1961) was a British racing driver born in Rossett, Denbighshire, Wales. * Although he competed in Formula One, he never took part in a World Championship event. Spencer Summers, a Conservative politician, was his uncle. Summers 1960, Summers had a fruitful season racing a Lotus 15 sports car built by Terry Bartram, and with the help of a new Cooper T53 chassis number F1-8-61, the two runners qualified tenth of the 14 runners and finished eighth and last. * After crashing out of the Glover Trophy in the first week, he fell out of the competition for the tenth time. * Despite being refused a start at the 1961 Brussels Grand Prix in qualifying, he was denied a start, but he started from the front row at the Vienna Grand Prix. He came from second on the grid before his suspension fell, and he ran near the front until he was suspended. The Summers returned to the United Kingdom and placed 13th out of 28 starters and finished 12th. * He made his best result in the London Trophy last month, finishing fourth. However, Summers was killed while spinning at Paddock Hill Bend and collided into a concrete wall at the pit tunnel entrance during rain for the Silver City Trophy competition at Brands Hatch.
