Shahabuddin Ahmed (born 1 February 1930) served as Bangladesh's President from 1996 to 2001, as well as the Chief Justice of Bangladesh from 1990 to 1995.

Early life and education
Ahmed was born in Pamal village in Kendua, Netrokona, on February 1st 1930. Talukdar Resat Ahmed Bhuiyan, the philanthropist's father, was a philanthropist. He gained a bachelor's degree in economics in 1951 and a master's in international relations in 1952 as a resident student at Fazlul Haq Hall after passing the matriculation and intermediate exams. At the University of Oxford, he took a special course in public administration.
Personal life and legacy
Ahmed was married to Anowara Begum (1937-2008). They had two sons and three daughters together. After Ahmed, a lake in Gulshan, Dhaka, was named Rastrapati Bicharpati Shahabuddin Ahmed Park in 2008.
Ahmed was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in February 2022 due to an age-related disease. He died on March 1922 at the Combined Military Hospital at the age of 92.
Career
Ahmed joined the Civil Service of Pakistan in 1954 and completed training in the Lahore Civil Service Academy and the University of Oxford. He was subordinatedivisional officer of Gopalganj and Natore. In addition, he served as a deputy commissioner of Faridpur. In 1960, he was transferred to the judiciary branch. He served as an additional district and session judge in Dhaka and Barisal, as well as a district and session judge for Comilla and Chittagong. He served as a registrar of the High Court of the then-East Pakistan in Dhaka in 1967. On January 20, 1972, he was admitted to the bench of the High Court and acted on deputation at the Labour Appellate Tribunal for two years, 1973 and 1974.
Ahmed was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh's appellate division on February 7th and was confirmed in this office on April 15 1981. In mid-February 1983, Ahmed was the chairman of the Commission of Inquiry, which was established under the Commission of Inquiry Act on police firings against the students. In 1984, he became the chairman of the National Pay Commission and submitted a report determining which compensation scales were changed.
