The company earned £76 million from nearly 600 potential buyers who were supposed to be purchasing individual rooms worth £100,000 in hundreds of luxury care homes. Carlauren promised the investors a 10-percent annual return, but the majority of the care homes never opened and the company went into administration in 2019. The £50 million investment, which had been reported at the time, had gone missing. People involved in the company's acquisitions, including two Lamborghinis, a McLaren 570GT, a private jet, and two yachts, according to the Serious Fraud Office, which has been investigating Carlauren.

After years of brutal abuse, a woman was sentenced to seven and a half years in jail for murdering her husband, but she will be eligible for parole straight away. On Friday, Jean Louise Herholdt appeared in the Queensland Supreme Court for sentencing for Sean Murray, a 35-year-old man, on August 27, 2020. After beating her, the 30-year-old had pleaded guilty this week and confessed to stabbing Mr Murray once in the back at their Murrumba Downs property, north of Brisbane.
