Michael K. Williams, the fentanyl-laced heroin that killed him, has been sentenced to a decade in prison. Irvin Cartagena, 40, of Puerto Rico, pleaded guilty to facilitating Williams' overdose in September 2020 after the actor was discovered dead in his Brooklyn apartment the day after purchasing drugs from Cartagena in a deal caught on a security camera. Cartagena said he was'very sorry' for his conduct before his sentencing was announced, adding: 'We never meant for anyone to die from the drugs.' Cartegena's sentencing comes a month after fellow gang member Carlos Macci received a 30 month jail term, despite The Wire's co-creator's plea for leniency with the judge. Luiz Cruz and Hector Robles, two other accomplices, have also pleaded guilty.
