Henry Olusegun Adeola Samuel (born 19 February 1963), also known as Seal, is a British musician, guitarist, and songwriter.
He has sold more than 20 million worldwide with his first international hit song, "Crazy," released in 1991; his most well-known song, "Kiss From a Rose," was released in 1994. Seal has received numerous accolades throughout his career; he was named Best British Male in 1992; and four Grammy Awards and an MTV Video Music Award have been given.
He received two Ivor Novello Awards for "Best Song Musically and Lyrically" (1990) and "Crazy" (1991), and returned to Australia in 2017 to work as a mentor.
Early life
Henry Olusegun Adeola Samuel was born on 19 February 1963 at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London, to Adebisi Ogundeji, a Nigerian mother, and Francis Samuel, an Afro-Brazilian father. He was raised in Westminster, London, by a foster family. He received a two-year diploma in architecture and worked in various companies in the London area.
Personal life
Seal's face has the appearance of a prominent scarring caused by a condition known as discoid erythematosus, which affects the skin and leaves large scars. Jeymes Samuel, also known as The Bullitts, is also an accomplished singer-songwriter.
Heidi Klum, a German model who came from Germany, was first introduced to Seal in February 2004, right after she announced her pregnancy and broken news with Italian Formula One team manager Flavio Briatore. In a quinzee that he had built on a glacier in Whistler, British Columbia, he was recommended to Klum on December 23, 2004. The couple married on a beach in Mexico near Seal's home on Costa Careyes on May 10th. Seal and Klum renewed their vows on their anniversary with close friends and families each year during their marriage. "Every year, Heidi and I get married," Seal said of these renewals. It's a great time, but we go on our own down to a private beach for about an hour. As the sun sets, we sit down with the children and read vows to each other. This is a very special moment for us." Klum officially adopted Seal's surname in November 2009 and became legally known as Heidi Samuel.
Seal, who was on tour with his new album Soul, said, "It's nice to be in newspapers and magazines for something other than my marriage." He said that his marriage to Klum might take the spotlight away from what he loves doing: making music. Klum praised Seal in February 2011 for his outstanding parenting skills.
Klum also expressed how fortunate she was to have a husband like Seal. Klum gave birth to Briatore's daughter in May 2004 in New York City with Seal at her side. Briatore is not involved in fathering roles, according to Klum, and Klum has stated unequivocally that Seal is the girl's father. Seal is her only father figure, and he has lauded Briatore for his remaining distance. Seal officially adopted Klum's daughter in late 2009, and her last name was changed to Samuel. Henry Günther Ademola Dashtu Samuel (born September 2005) and Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo Samuel (born November 2006) and a daughter named Lou were born in October 2009.
Seal and Klum announced on January 22, 2012, after nearly seven years of marriage, after almost seven years. On April 6, 2012, Klum filed for divorce from Seal. On October 14, 2014, the couple's divorce was finalized.
Music career
Seal spent a short time in 1980s-1990s-1980s performing in local clubs and bars. He joined Push, a British funk band, in 1987, and toured Japan with them. He lived in Thailand for a while before separating from the company and going all around India on his own. He returned to England, sleeping on the couch of his colleague Julian Bunster, who later became a model. He sometimes asked him, "do I sing well?
"He sang better than most current artists, to which he often received the comment that he sang better than most current artists." In the process, he met producer Adamski, in which Seal provided lyrics and vocals on Adamski's album "Killer.""Killer" eventually ranked as the UK's most popular sport. Seal signed to ZTT Records and released his self-titled debut album (produced by Trevor Horn) in 1991. Two copies of the album are known to be out of print: the original "premix" version and a second, more popular version with an updated mix. This is largely due to the demand for a finished single rushing the final album edit, as Seal says, producer Horn's "inability to let go."
Critics lauded Seal's reception. The singles "Crazy," "Future Love Paradise," and his own interpretation of "Killer" all did well on the charts. In particular, "Crazy" became an international hit in 1991, peaking at number two on the UK Singles Chart and number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, with one of them at number two. Seal stole the show at the 1992 British Awards held at the Hammersmith Odeon, London, with the first hat-trick of victories in the event's history. He was selected in three categories, including Best British Male, Best British Video ("Killer"), and Best British Album (Seal).
Seal appeared on the Red Hot Organization's compilation CD Red Hot + Dance in 1992, debuting "Crazy (If I Was Trev Mix)" as the protagonist. The album, which stars George Michael and Madonna among others, raised funds and awareness of the AIDS epidemic by donating 100% to AIDS charities.
Seal reunited with Trevor Horn, his second album, also self-titled, was released in 1994. The album, which gained the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, was a huge success, with songs like "Prayer for the Dying" and "Newborn Friend." On the Billboard Hot 100, "Prayer for the Dying" became a minor pop hit in the United States, peaking at number 21. When it was released, "Kiss from a Rose," a third single, rose to a new degree of fame, but it was later reimagined for Batman Forever's soundtrack. In 1996, "Kiss from a Rose" earned a Grammy Award for Best New Music and Grammy Award for Song of the Year, becoming Seal's best-performing single on the US market (it debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 in late August 1995) and ranked number four in the United Kingdom.
Seal was the first human being in 1998. Seal's record was a result of a turbulent period in his life, including a split and subsequent reconciliation with producer Horn, as well as Seal's involvement with ZTT Records and his 1997 signing with Warner Bros. Records. On its unveiling, the record was panned. Only two months after its launch date, the RIAA has awarded it a gold medal award. "Human Beings," "New Craze," and "Lost My Faith" were three songs on the album.
Fans of Togetherland, a 2001 album, awaited the debut of a new one. The album was cancelled after a protracted postproduction period. Seal simply did not think it made the grade, although this contradicts other reports, that the album was turned down by the brand because the company decided that the album would not be commercially profitable. Nonetheless, one single from the album was released; "This Could Be Heaven" was released in the United States and featured on The Family Man soundtrack. Seal has confirmed that he intends to cut excerpts from Togetherland and make them available for streaming downloads since December 2006. In the meantime, Seal co-wrote and performed vocals on Jakatta's hit single "My Vision" in 2002. During the same time, he also performed a successful duet with French singer Mylène Farmer named "Les Mots." Seal lent his vocals to the song "You Are My Kind," the fourth track on Santana's album Shaman, back in 2002.
Seal IV's fourth album Seal IV was released in 2003. Despite that it never achieved the sales figures of either of his first two albums, this release brought him right back to the public eye in the United States and continental Europe. "Waiting for You," "Get It Together," and "Love's Divine" were among the album's singles.
Best 1991–2004 was released by a British record, as well as a remix of Echo & the Bunnymen's "Lips Like Sugar" on Flickr. An additional CD with acoustic interpretations of some of Seal's hits was included in the album. Seal performed shows at the Olympia Theatre in Paris in 2004. Live in Paris was recorded and released about a year after as a CD/DVD set up.
Seal released One Night to Remember in 2006 as a CD/DVD combo in June 2005. In comparison to the live broadcast, there is also a "making of" documentary on the DVD. This performance, which is recorded in a historic steel mill called the Altes Kesselhaus ("old boiler house") in Düsseldorf, Germany, includes a version of Brahms' Lullaby, which Seal sings in German and then in English. Unlike earlier recordings in which Seal is accompanied by his band, a complete orchestra and choir of 52 musicians accompanies the singer.
On the 12th of November 2007, the UK and in the United States on the 13th of November 2007. Seal performs a duet with his then wife, model Heidi Klum, on the track titled "Wedding Day." At the 2007 Grammy Awards, the album's first single, "Amazing," was released on September 25, 2007, and was selected for the "Best Male Vocal Performance" Grammy.
At the 2007 Royal Variety Exhibition, Seal performed "Amazing" and the Beatles' "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds." At the 2007 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in December, Seal performed "Amazing" as well as his wife's duet "Wedding Day" on her. The Spice Girls and Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas were among the other performers at the 2007 Victoria's Secret Fashion Exhibition. He appeared on the American Idol season-seven finale, performing with third-place contestant Syesha Mercado.
Soul, Seal's sixth studio album, was released in the United States on November 3rd, 2008, in the United States. It contains 11 soul classics from David Foster. Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come" was the first single released.
Seal performed a song from the album and coached the participants on the sixth season of the German TV show "Top 9-Show" (German Idol). Hits, a compilation album, was released on December 4, 2009. "I Am Your Man" and "Thank You" are two new songs on the album.

Seal was released by Horn shortly after starting work on a new album titled Let Yourself. Horn said the album was almost finished in February 2015. Seal resigned to Perfect Songs and spent two weeks in Horn's Los Angeles studio, which was booked for October 2012. Stewart Copeland, a former member of the Police, announced on Twitter that Trevor Horn and Lol Crème were working with Seal on a project last month.
