In the crash near Wincanton in Somerset on August 18, 2022, Anton Hull was sentenced to six years in Taunton Crown Court in November last year for causing the death of 29-year-old Sarah Baker by negligent driving. Hull, who was 20 years old at the time, had posted Snapchat videos claiming he had been 'f***ing smashed,' despite being told not to drink and drive by family members and a pub landlord earlier this evening. The Attorney General's Office (AGO) had referred his sentence to the Court of Appeal, alleging that it was 'unduly generous.' Three appeal judges accepted Hull's sentence to one of nine years and three months at a hearing in London on Wednesday.
