Early and personal life
Alison was Shepard's younger sister. In 1995, she graduated from Downingtown High School in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. She enrolled at New York University, where she earned a B.S. degree. Brooklyn College earned a BA in Creative Writing in 1999 and an MFA in Creative Writing in 2004. Shepard worked at Time, Inc. from 2000 to 2005. Custom Publishing and Design developed lifestyle magazines for corporate clients. She began ghostwriting in 2002 and began writing her own books in 2005.
Shepard now resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
