According to eyewitnesses, the incident started around 8.30 a.m. outside the re-intake center in East Village when one man tried to sneak into the massive line. While trying to cut in front before being confronted by another migrant, he was holding a cup of coffee and spilled it onto others. With the guy reportedly punching the line-cutter who collapsed to the ground and others joined in, an argument quickly became physical. Two police officers were wounded in the struggle, and two men were arrested after attempting to break it up.
