On his 405th and final episode of Dick Wolf's long-running legal drama, Sam Waterston officially ended his Law & Order character Jack McCoy, according to NBC. The 83-year-old acting veteran appeared on the show for the fifth season in 1994 and then went on to portray the district attorney on/off until season 23.

After appearing in more than 400 episodes, Sam Waterston is officially leaving the hit legal drama series Law & Order. According to People, the 83-year-old actor will be stepping down from his long-serving role as District Attorney Jack McCoy after first appearing on the series 30 years ago. On February 22, his last episode will air. Tony Goldwyn, who is best known for his role in Scandal as President Fitzgerald Grant III, will be included in the cast.
