Jayden Daniels is selected by Commanders with second pick at the 2024 NFL Draft as Heisman winner and LSU star will become Washington's 13th starting quarterback since 2018

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 26, 2024
The Washington Commanders hope to have finally solved their decades-long riddle at quarterback by taking Heisman winner and former LSU star Jayden Daniels with the second pick of Thursday's NFL Draft in Detroit. USC quarterback Caleb Williams had long been considered a lock to the Chicago Bears with the first-overall pick. It was the second pick, where Washington was looking to replace failed starter Sam Howell after a 4-13 season, that had the experts split. Commanders general manager Adam Peters ultimately picked Williams over North Carolina's Drake Maye and Michigan's J.J. McCarthy, both of whom were invited on a recent TopGolf outing with Daniels by team personnel.

The Commanders have the No. 1st. If Caleb Williams of Southern California departs to the Chicago Bears at No. 2 overall pick in April's draft and are widely predicted to face LSU's Jayden Daniels. 1. Sam Howell, who was traded to the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday, went 4-13 as Washington's starter last season.

During a fiery game in Washington, Giants' Cor'Dale Flott and Commanders' Curtis Samuel were suspended for combating as a brawl breaks out

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 19, 2023
Sam Howell, the quarterback for the Thunderbolts, was running the ball toward the end zone when he shrugged off Giants linebacker Micah McFadden and pinballed off Deonte Banks. Howell had already played the ball across the line before being tackled by Robert Nnanna Okereke and Xavier McKinney. Howell remained on his feet until McKinney pulled him out of bounds and down to the ground. Curtis Samuel, a wide receiver from Washington, shoved Flott out of his way and the brawl broke out as players crammed the sideline, claiming to knock McKinney out of his way.
