End of an era for iconic 00s music channels: Music fans mourn as Kerrang!, Kiss, Magic, The Box and 4Music ALL play their final songs after being shutdown by TV bosses

In an age before streaming and on-demand music videos, they were hugely popular with many Britons and an important part of noughties culture. But five popular music channels - The Box, Kiss, 4Music, Magic and Kerrang! - have closed for good as fans mourned the 'end of an era' after more than 30 years on air. Channel 4 has shut the channels in a cost-cutting move as they ceased broadcasting on Sky and Virgin Media on Sunday amid a shift to watching videos on YouTube . The oldest is The Box which launched in 1992 as a competitor for MTV and saw viewers call in to request a song, becoming known as 'music television you control'. But the biggest outpouring of grief on social media in recent days has been for the end of rock station Kerrang! TV which launched in 2001 with Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and finished over the weekend with Fall Out Boy's 'Thnks Fr Th Mmrs'. Kerrang! - which took its name from the magazine of the same title - became known for championing indie rock, nu-metal and skate punk, with bands such as Green Day, Panic! At the Disco, Limp Bizkit and You Me At Six among those regularly played.

The victory, which came thanks to a long-range Jamie Shillcock penalty, helped the Tigers beat the record in pool four. Shillcock scored 12 points from the boot, while the Paris side's tries came from Mathieu Hirigoyen, Charles Laloi, and Leo Barre. Through Europe debutant Vane's first two attempts, Leicester led to a 14-7 lead at halftime, both of which were converted by Shillcock. Despite Charlie Atkinson's temporary decrease to 14 men after a yellow card.
