Early life
Sabina Ddumba was born in Fisksätra, Nacka, on February 23, 1994. She is the sixth child in her family out of eight. Her mother, who was eight years old at the time, moved to Uganda. She became interested in melody and phrasing after listening to traditional Ugandan nursery rhymes and songs. Since she was ten years old, Ddumba has been writing songs. She joined the Tensta Gospel Choir at the age of fourteen in 2008 and spent six years with the group. She discovered singing was her calling through this choir. Her father and relatives wanted her to enter a more academic field, such as a doctor.
Career
In 2012, Ddumba appeared on The X Factor Sverige. She appeared on Adam Kanyama's "The Golden Child" album in 2012 and collaborated with the duo Lorentz & Sakarias. Katy Perry's album, Prism, featured her background vocals for her single "Walking On Air" in 2013. Looptroop Rockers' "Sea of Death" was her first album collaboration the year before. "Scarred for Life" was her first album on release in 2014. In 2015, she signed with Warner Music following the single's launch. Ddumba's second single, "Effortless," was certified platinum in Sweden in 2015. Carmen Reece co-wrote the song and Nick Ruth and T-Collar produced it. "Not Too Young" was her debut on October 30, 2015. This single was awarded double platinum. Ddumba appeared at the Swedish Grammy Awards in February 2015.
