This year, horror and sci-fi tropes made a lot of buzz, with top candidates Stranger Things and The Last of Us bringing telepathic teenagers and zombie-like creatures to our screens. They are neck and neck with box office juggernaut Top Gun: Maverick, the highest-grossing domestic release of 2022 that saw Tom Cruise reprise his iconic role as pilot Pete "Maverick" Mitchell. Heck, even Ghostface himself is up for a nod for his Scream VI brawl against the franchise's recurring journalist Gale Weathers, played by Courteney Cox. Jersey Shore Family Vacation, RuPaul's Drag Race, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and Vanderpump Rules are among the unscripted categories. This year, the competition will feature two new categories, Best Reality On-Screen Team and Best Kick-Ass Cast, as well as supporters who can vote for their picks at www.mtv.com until April 17. According to the show's first teaser that the streamer revealed on September 24 as part of its Tudum fan festival, the teens appear to be getting the most out of being stranded on a (hopefully) deserted island. In the clip, the Pogues are living the good life, leaping into the sea from high cliffs and goofing around like they have no concern in the world. However, the beleaguered North Carolina teens are never going to be comfortable, and Ward (Charles Esten), Rafe (Drew Starkey), and Carla (Elizabeth Mitchell) are all likely to have trouble, as well as Timothy (Elizabeth Mitchell). In the teaser, John B (Chase Stokes) says, "Nothing good comes easy, and nothing worthy is given." "What are you willing to do to win?How far do you go to keep your treasure?"
