Rudolf Dassler Life

Rudolf "Rudi" Dassler, born in Herzogenaurach, Germany, died on March 26th, 1898, the German Founder of Puma and the older brother of Adidas's founder, Adolf "Adi" Dassler, died on October 27th.

Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik, the brothers were partners in a shoe company Adi founded (Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory).

Rudi joined in 1924, but Rudolf and Adolf Dassler fought during World War II, and the brothers went on separate paths in 1948.

It was soon rebranded to Puma, despite initially identifying the firm as "Ruda" (Rudolf Dassler).

Puma is Quechua's native word for cougar, and from there, it has developed into German and other languages.

Life

Adolf Dassler, Rudolf's younger brother, started to make sports shoes in his mother's kitchen after returning from World War I. Christoph, his father, who worked in a shoe factory, and brothers Zehlein, who made the handmade spikes for track shoes in their blacksmith's shop, all helped Adolf in starting their own company. Rudolf joined the Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik in 1924, which became the Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik (Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory).

Both Dassler brothers joined the Nazi Party in the 1930s, with Rudolf being the more ardent Nazi.

Adi and his wife climbed into a bomb shelter that Rudolf and his family were still in during the war, but Rudolf said it meant him and his family. Rudolf was suspected of being a member of the SS on his capture by American troops, according to information that Adolf ostensibly provided.

Puma was still a small provincial business under his leadership. Armin Dassler, his son's business, was only in today's global known firm.
