Director Joshua Newton and his son, who were banned from promoting his Holocaust film, are suing parent company Meta Platforms, Inc. for $700 million, citing breach of contract, deception, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Newton goes further and claims that Facebook has long been "the object of antisemitic activities." A digital media buyer tried to place ads for the movie Beautiful Blue Eyes in September but Facebook told the viewer that they could not do so due to the movie's name.

Despite the director's dissatisfaction with the film, Jaws actor Roy Scheider died in 2008, with his last film being released. Beautiful Blue Eyes has been remastered, but Facebook refused to advertise it at first, citing that the game in violation of their racial policies. They have now resurfaced and announced that it will be advertised. The film's distributor told director Joshua Newton in early September that it had been suspended from being broadcast on Facebook because it inverts its policy against postings or implications of a person's race,' among other personal characteristics.' Joseph, played by Scheider, a Holocaust survivor who migrated to New York and joined the NYPD, is the subject of the film. Joseph discovers that the Nazi guard who murdered his entire family was living in Germany under an assumed name and plots to murder him. Newton's parents were Holocaust survivors and the film was based in part on his father's experiences. The name refers to a child who died in the hands of the Nazis and invokes a key scene from the film.
