"The Crown" and "Derry Girls" are among the television nominees for the BBC, but "Happy Valley" is unable to be selected

The 2023 television BAFTA Awards have been revealed, and it's going to be one hell of a night. With six nods each, BBC's "This Is Going to Hurt" starring Ben Whishaw and BBC's "The Responder," starring Martin Freeman, top the board. "The Crown" on Netflix has received five accolades, and Channel 4's "Derry Girls" has been nominated for the Scripted comedy and Female role in a comedy series, thanks to Siobhán McSweeney's role as Sister Michael. Costar Nicola Coughlan and her two "best friends" McSweeney and Jack Rooke celebrated their nominations straight after the list was revealed. However, there were some snubs on the list. Despite the fact that the third series of "Happy Valley" was lauded for Sarah Lancashire and James Norton's superb acting, the BBC show did not feature on the list of candidates. "Where's 'Happy Valley' in this?", one fan asked on Twitter, while another questioned: "Did no one on the bafta committee watch Happy Valley????What even???" However, BAFTA's official Twitter retaliated about the allegations, alerting followers that the third season was not eligible for this year's awards, and that the 2024 BAFTAs will be chosen instead. On the drama series front page, "Peaky Blinders" was also skipped out. "It's a Sin" failed to win last year, despite being nominated for six awards, so concerns over outdated beliefs and the weight of awards have remained.
