Ron Hazelton Life

Ron Hazelton (born May 29, 1942) is the host of a number of popular home improvement television shows, beginning with taking over This Old House after Bob Villa's death and most recently Ron Hazelton's HouseCalls.

Early life

Hazelton was born in 1942 in Binghamton, New York, to Earl, a building contractor, and Wanda Hazelton.

In 1965, he earned a BS in Marketing from the Florida State University College of Business. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Alpha fraternity and was a member of the Air Force ROTC Drill team.

Early career

Hazelton's graduation from the US Navy Officer Candidate School for Anti-Submarine Warfare School. Hazelton, a Boston marketing consultant, was a Boston market analyst. In 1978, he founded Cow Hollow Woodworks, a San Francisco storefront restoration workshop. In 1993, he sold the company.

Television career

Hazelton developed, co-produced, and hosted The House Doctor, a reality-based, on-location home improvement television show. More than 200 episodes and 600 house visits followed it from 1990-97. It appeared on ABC affiliate KGO-TV in San Francisco and aired on HGTV for many years before 2001. He got started on television by accident: his dentist introduced him with a KGO-TV producer for what became The House Doctor.

Hazelton was the Home Improvement Editor for ABC's Good Morning America from 1997 to 2007. Ron has published regular articles on a variety of topics including home improvement, planning, inspection, health, and safety. On The Oprah Winfrey Show, Inside Edition, Discovery Channel's Popular Mechanics, Our Home, and Our History: Frontier Homes, he has been featured as a home improvement specialist.

HouseCalls, led by Ron Hazelton, is a nationally syndicated home improvement program that Hazelton produces and hosts. He goes by motorcycle with a mobile workshop to support people with weekend DIY home projects. Ron Hazelton's HouseCalls will be broadcasting season 21 as of June 2020.
