Robin Leach Life

Robin Douglas Leach (29 August 1941 – August 24, 2018) was an English entertainment reporter and writer from London.

He began his career as a print journalist in England and then in the United States, becoming best known for hosting the television series Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous from 1984 to 1995.

The show concentrated on profiling well-known celebrities and their lavish homes, cars, and other materialistic information.

His voice has often been parodied by other actors with his catchphrase, "champagne hopes and caviar hopes."

Early life

Leach, the son of Violet Victoria (Phillips) and Douglas Thomas Leach, a sales executive, was born in London. At age 14, he attended Harrow County School for Boys, ten miles (16 kilometers) from London, where he edited The Gayton Times, a school newspaper. He became a general news reporter for the Harrow Observer at the age of 15, earning £6 a week after graduation.

Personal life and death

Robin married Judith Desser in 1968, but they divorced in 1977. He had three sons: Steven, Gregg, and Rick.

While on vacation in Cabo San Lucas on November 20, Leach suffered a stroke on November 20th. He had another stroke in August and died in Las Vegas under hospice care on August 24th, 5 days before his 77th birthday.

Robin Leach Career

Career

At age 18, Leach became the youngest "Page One" reporter in the UK, and he moved to the Daily Mail as Britain's youngest "Page One" reporter. He immigrated to the United States in 1963, but he maintained his English accent throughout his life (which would become a signature of his own when he first started working in television years later). He worked in many American newspapers, including New York Daily News, People, and Women's Home Journal, before launching GO Magazine in 1967 and then becoming the Star's show business editor. Leach started on television as a regular contributor to AM Los Angeles, with Regis Philbin and Sarah Purcell on KABC-TV. Other television appearances included reporting for People Tonight, CNN and Entertainment Tonight, and assisting in the establishment of Good Morning Australia, as well as the Food Network. Leach was also a participant at the World Wrestling Federation's WrestleMania IV, where he read the tournament's laws.

Madonna Exposed, an expose film made by Leach in March 1993 for the Fox network. Madonna's biography was a documentary about her life and publicity stunts. Madonna's cell phone number was given to her before the documentary premiered; he said that at any time during the airing of Madonna, she could call Leach and ask any question. Along with future Today Show host Matt Lauer, he also hosted Runaway with the Rich and Famous, Fortune, and Romance.

In Season 2, episode 17 titled "On the Air," Leach appeared in a special appearance on the American family sitcom Boy Meets World. In the episode, he appears to be presenting Eric Matthews with a check for $10 million; however, the delivery is actually a misunderstanding since it was supposed for his neighbor, Dorothy Muldoon. On VH1, Leach hosted The Surreal Life: Fame Games. He also served as the public address announcer for the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup competition at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He lived in Las Vegas from 1999 to 2000. He worked for the Las Vegas Sun and the daily VegasDeluxe.com website from 2008 to June 2016, when he was recruited by Sheldon Adelson's Las Vegas Review-Journal. Leach appeared in the 2006 documentary film Maxed Out, which chronicled the rise of the credit card industry in the United States and the emergence of personal debt among working-class people. "No one will be interested in the lifestyles of the poor and unknown," Leach Leach said. A review in The Baltimore Sun highlighted the point. In an episode of Celebrity Wife Swap in which Leach exchanged wives with Eric Roberts, he also appeared with his wife.

Leach appeared in the Vice Channel series Most Expensive, alongside rapper 2 Chainz. The episode (#5) debuted in late 2017 and was titled "Viva Las Vegas." It included a scene with Leach and 2 Chainz eating blinis with caviar and syrup. Leach himself narrated portions of the episode.
