Robert Chaplin (born January 17, 1968 in Smithers, British Columbia) is a Canadian artist and writer who is currently based in Vancouver.

His hobbies include carving gem stones, making sculptures, drawing pictures, writing stories, and publishing books.

He holds the Guinness World Record for publishing the world's smallest book. He studied Fine Art at the Simon Fraser University and was invited to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 2010 for his "excellence in book design in Canada" in the Objects of Art category. In 2006, his book Ten Counting Cat received second place in the Alcuin Awards.

Turnip Town's 2007 teen Ted, produced in collaboration with nanoscientists at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby and written by Malcolm Chaplin, is the world's smallest book at 69 x 97 micrometers square.

Alien Alphabet (1994), The Matchbook: A Fireside Fable, The Elephant Book, Delectable Chicken Soup, and Brussels Sprouts & Unicorns are among Chaplin's other books.

Chaplin, a native of Smithers, British Columbia, studied Fine Art at the University of Victoria, and was elected to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 2004.

The 2002 AGTA Cutting Edge Awards' obsessive carving of the North Wind was voted third place in the Objects of Art category.

In 2010, his book Brussels Sprouts & Unicorns received first place in the Alcuin Society Awards for "excellence in book design in Canada." In 2006, his book Ten Counting Cat was named second in the Alcuin Awards for second place.
