Robert Glenn "Robbie" Lawler, born March 20, 1982, is an American mixed martial artist who has competed since 2001.
He is the former UFC Welterweight Champion, former EliteXC Middleweight Champion, and the IFL.
He is widely regarded as one of the best mixed martial artists currently competing, winning three consecutive "Fight of the Year" awards from Sherdog and MMA Combat for his fights against Johny Hendricks (at UFC 189, in 2015), and Carlos Condit (at UFC 195, 2016).

Mixed martial arts career
Lawler made his professional debut in 2001 and won his first four fights in his career, all by TKO/KO, his second appearance in the IFC.
At UFC 37 against veteran Aaron Riley, Lawler made his UFC debut against him. Lawler prevailed in the contest by a unanimous decision. In the next month, Lawler will meet Steve Berger at UFC 37.5 and triumph via TKO. Lawler lost in a highlight-reel fight against Tiki Ghosn at UFC 40, defeating him in his next fight. On UFC 42, lawler continued fighting Pete Spratt before losing due to a hip injury. Lawler came back to win over Chris Lytle, a fellow boxing and wrestling expert, by a unanimous decision at UFC 45.
In his next UFC match, Lawler met former WEC World Champion and potential Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz at UFC 47. In the second round, Lawler was dealt the first of only two knockout losses of his career to date. On July 27, 2013, the wrestler was scheduled to face former Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Tarec Saffiedine at UFC on Fox 8.
