Arlyn 'Heart' Phoenix wrote about her son's death and said his life is 'one of the most amazing days of her life.' River's star, who is known for his acting skills and good looks, was on the rise before he died on October 31 1993, after a battle with heroin use. In a heart-wrenching article about what would have been actor's 53rd birthday, River Phoenix's mother discusses the agony of losing her son: "He is very alive in me."

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 25, 2023
On what would have been his 53rd birthday, Arlyn 'Heart' Phoenix, the mother of late actor River Phoenix, has paid tribute to him. Heart, 78, took to Instagram on Wednesday (August 23rd) to honor her son, who fatally overdosed on a combination of cocaine and opium (known as a'speedball') in 1993 at the age of 23, and said he is "very much alive in me." "August 23, 1970...one of the most memorable days of my life" -- bringing Earthbound a living being... a hint of the most sacred. River Jude embraced each of his siblings (who arrived via the same portal after him) with his humor, insight, passion, empathy, and Undying Love, as he tried to do with most people. I would say he was and still is our greatest tutor. "The hardest pain I suffered in my life was the pain of natural childbirth and even more, the death of my son's death.' On both occasions, the gifts he gave were imbued in each of us, and we keep on commemorating his life's 23 precious years.' There are no guarantees in life, and I don't believe any of us was promised that we would not live through 'tragic moments.' Living in the moment and drawing on inner wisdom as a sacred path to navigate through life's many challenges. River's life and death taught me that, in no uncertain terms. I am in awe of the fact that he is still alive in me. "I would like to thank you for all the wonderful messages that I have received over the past 30 years.'
