Rickey Minor (born September 6, 1959) is an American bass player, composer, and music arranger. Minor was the musical director and bandleader on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno from 2010 to 2014, taking over after Kevin Eubanks departed. Minor was born in Monroe, Louisiana, and raised by his mother, Helen Blevins, in South Central Los Angeles, California. Minor's musical education began with self-taught tours, including Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Ray Charles, Alicia Keys, and Beyoncé, as well as television shows, including: the Grammy Awards, the NAACP Image Awards, and the Super Bowl, of which he has received four separate Emmy nominations in the musical direction category. * He appeared on Fox's Don't Forget the Lyrics! in addition to his duties as American Idol's musical director, he also served as the bandleader. * He served as both a musical arranger and conductor for the 91st Academy Awards in 2019.
