Richard "Doc" Walker (born May 28, 1955) is a former American football tight end in the National Football League (NFL), who played for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Washington Redskins.
He is currently a radio sports commentator.
Playing career
Walker played college football at UCLA and was a member of the 1976 Rose Bowl. The Bengals had him drafted in the fourth round of the 1977 NFL Draft. In 1980, he joined the Redskins and was instrumental in the team's victory in Super Bowl XVII.
Broadcasting career
Walker is currently covering sports on radio broadcasting in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. On ESPN 980, he hosts his own show. "Doc Walker's ProView," He hosts a weekly television show on ESPN 980 and Tuesday evenings at 11 p.m. on MASN, he hosts "Doc Walker's ProView." After being the sideline reporter, he moved into the color analyst's seat for radio broadcasts of Washington Football Team games on ESPN 980 in 2011. He is now officially a sideline reporter for Washington Football Team radio broadcasts as of 2019.
Previously, he had appeared on The John Thompson Show and The Locker Room with Doc Walker and Kevin Sheehan. He appears also in Washington, D.C. Lottery and BMW of Sterling commercials. He worked with Westwood One as a color commentator for college football television broadcasts, as a sideline reporter, and occasional color commentator for the NFL on Westwood One. He was also the primary color analyst for ACC football games for Raycom Sports with Steve Martin up until the 2010 college football season.
