Reginald VelJohnson Career

Career

VelJohnson is well-known for his appearances as police officers in films and television. His early career included a brief stint in Ghostbusters (1984) as a municipal corrections officer, as well as an appearance in Crocodile Dundee (1986) as a limo driver. VelJohnson appeared as a police officer alongside Tom Hanks in Turner & Hooch (1989). In Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins (1985), in which he was credited by the stage name Ivory Ocean, he would also play an ambulance driver.

VelJohnson made his debut as Sgt. Die Hard, Al Powell, 1988. After Gene Hackman, who had been hired to play the role, became unavailable, producers decided to hire a relatively unknown actor for the role. He went from New York to California for nine months, but it was so long that he ended up permanently residing in California. He also reprised the role in the 1990 film Die Hard 2 later. Sgt. VelJohnson was reprised in this role. In 2002, Powell appeared in Die Hard: Vendetta, a GameCube video game title.

In 1989, VelJohnson was portrayed as the memorable police officer and family patriarch Carl Winslow of ABC (later CBS) sitcom Family Matters, alongside Jo Marie Payton, who portrayed his wife Harriette Winslow. It was a spinoff of the famous show Perfect Strangers on which he appeared only once, although Harriette appeared as a reoccurring guest star. He appeared on the show from 1998 to 1998.

VelJohnson has mainly done voice and guest actor roles since the completion of Family Matters. VelJohnson has also appeared on many TV shows, including The Equalizer, Diagnosis: Murder, Twice in a Lifetime, Will & Grace, Monk, Crime Scene Investigation, Eve, Crossing Jordan, That's So Raven, and Bones. In the 2002 film Like Mike, he had a small part.

He appeared on the reality show On the Lot in 2007, and in the short films Reverse, Nerve Endings, and Time Upon A Time. He was regarded as the "Sgt" in the following year. In an episode of NBC's Chuck titled "Chuck Versus the Santa Claus," Al Powell, as the cousin of Big Mike (Mark Christopher Lawrence), the nephew of Big Mike (Mark Christopher Lawrence). VelJohnson began a regular appearance as Principal, later Superintendent, Strickland on Disney's sitcom I'm in the Band, as well as Funnyordie.com's short HBO film titled Just 3 Boys starring Tim Heidecker, Eric Wareheim, and Zach Galifianakis. He has also appeared in The Formula, a comedy film starring Brandon Baker and Sasha Jackson. In the 2012 film Air Collision, he played air traffic controller Bob Abbot.

In the animated version of the comic Invincible, VelJohnson played Principal Winslow in 2021. The main character in both the comedy and the television series attends a high school named after the actor, and the character itself is named after Carl Winslow of Family Matters. VelJohnson has also played several minor characters in the film. On Disney's Turner & Hooch, he reprised his role as David Sutton.

FEMAIL has bared what happened after the box office was released as the iconic film commemorates its centennial.

'Is Joe Biden awake? At Correspondents' Dinner, Roy Wood Jr. goes easy on Biden for roast.'

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 30, 2023
Wood Jr., the event's most awaited speaker, stayed true to promises made to the media over the past week, in which he said he wanted to walk away from his desk but still have a job. With this in mind, a 44-year-old's ensuing series of sharp remarks seemed to subpoena the 80-year-old head of state, who had minutes before re-elections, including Marjorie Taylor Greene, Tucker Carlson, and Donald Trump. Wood, saving his penn for easy marks like Don Lemon and befuddled Fox News, made fun of Biden's age while devoting the majority of his budget to calls for local journalism and barbs against figures that had not been chastised by the president. Woods' address mocked Biden's old age - while boasting about his mental abilities - by likening him to Reginald VelJohnson's nagging personality in Family Matters.
