The bloodbath's body count is similar to a Line Of Duty-style murder spree, with the BBC aiming to cut 100 hours of television shows this year. Not one genre has been left out, with the axe sweeping everything from drama to quiz shows to comedy. In the face of rising inflation and a two-year freeze to the cost of a TV licence, which provides the majority of the BBC's funding, the BBC is hoping to make £500 million in savings, making some of the BBC's more recent ruthless decisions.

With its star-studded Christmas commercial, Good old M&S has pulled out all the stops this year. Hannah Waddingham of "Ted Lasso," Tan France, guitarist Sophie Ellis-Bexter, and "Fresh Meat" actress Zawe Ashton are among the themes on "Total" and "Reality" is less about the magic and more about being relatable. The advert, which uses the tagline "Love Thismas, Not Thatmas," features a sequence of scenes from various aspects of the festive season, such as writing Christmas cards and icing a gingerbread house. The high street stalwart has taken a more pragmatic route this year, with "I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) recorded by Ray BLK. Although the M&S Christmas commercial made us laugh out loud in honor of our festive runup (and made us add a sequin dress to our party season wishlist), it does not have the magic and wonder of the season. Although there are certain scenes that are immediately relatable, there isn't much about what the actors do love about Christmas. That being said, there's bound to be a slew of ads promoting this message, so it does stand out. We'd love to dance under gold Christmas cracker terror confetti with Waddingham.
