Dominque Raheem Mostert (born April 9, 1992) is a retired American football player for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League. (NFL)

He played college football at Purdue. The majority of the students at New Smyrna Beach High School in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where he played football and competed in track and field.

The majority of the New Smyrna Beach boys earned two berths in the playoffs.

He went to Purdue University after his senior year. He set a school record by posting 33.5 yards a return in his first collegiate season, leading off with a 99-yard touchdown in the bowl game.

He had seven returns of 39 or more yards on the season, including an 81-yarder at Indiana and a 74-yarder at Wisconsin.

He racked up 206 yards on five kickoff returns against the Badgers, setting new school records for total yardage and average yards per return.

Personal life

Many residents in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, nicknamed the "shark-bite capital of the world," Mostert surfed in the Atlantic Ocean. Devon Beckwith was married on March 3, 2017. Gunnar Grey, their first child, was born in June 2018.

Mostert is a campaigner for ocean conservation and melanoma awareness. During his time with the 49ers, he maintained a list of the franchises that had cut him before he he signed with San Francisco and looked at it for inspiration before every 49ers game.

High school career

Mostert attended New Smyrna Beach High School in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where he was a member of the football and track & field teams. Mostert was a football player under coach Lance Jenkins, and he had nine kickoffs and a punt for touchdowns, in addition to having 39 receptions for 723 yards (18.5 average) and four touchdowns as a senior. He also had 81 tackles on defense. Mostert was named MVP after hauling in three passes for nearly 100 yards and returning a kickoff for a 94-yard touchdown in the 2010 Central Florida All-Star Game. He appeared in the football game in the state of Florida, as well as South.

Mostert, a track star under Brendan Robinson, was a standout sprinter, hurdler, and jumper. In the 300-meter hurdles, he captured the 2010 FHSAA District 6 title. He finished first in the 100 meters in 10.68 seconds and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles, a personal record of 37.95 seconds, at the 2011 FHSAA 3A Outdoor State Finals.

On January 14, 2011, the majority of the students accepted Purdue University. He preferred Purdue over football scholarships from Indiana University, Marshall University, the University of Illinois, the United States Naval Academy, Rutgers University, the University of Southern Mississippi, the University of Central Florida, and Wake Forest University.

College career

The majority of Purdue's students attended and played college football from 2011 to 2014. Mostert averaged 33.5 yards a return in his first collegiate season in 2011, leading to a 99-yard victory over Western Michigan in the 2011 Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. He had seven returns of 39 or more yards on the season, including an 81-yarder at Indiana and a 74-yarder at Wisconsin. Mostert racked up 206 yards on five kickoff returns against the Badgers, breaking 42-year-old school records for total yardage and average yards per return in a single game. (41.2) Mostert was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for his efforts against Wisconsin, becoming the first Purdue freshman to do so since Rob Henry in October 2010. Mostert's 837 kickoff return yards are the second best in school history for a single season. He is now ranked 13th in Purdue's career kickoff return yards.

Mostert was named to the preseason Jet Award list in May 2012, the highest return specialist in the NCAA. He was named captain for the 2012 season during spring practice. Mostert had 16 attempts for 85 yards and a touchdown, as well as 18 kick returns for 463 yards in the 2012 season. Professional career

Mostert made the Philadelphia Eagles an undrafted free agent after going undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft. He also had five kick returns for 162 yards. The Miami Dolphins signed Mostert off the Eagles practice squad on September 14, 2015. During a Week 2 23-20 road loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, he had two kicks for 57 yards for the Dolphins. Mostert was released by the Dolphins on October 13, 2015 in the hopes of moving him to the practice squad.

Mostert was signed by the Baltimore Ravens on October 14, 2015, following the loss of third-string running back Lorenzo Taliaferro to a season-ending foot injury. In seven games with the Ravens, mostert returned five kicks for 164 yards. Mostert was waived by the Ravens in the hopes of putting him on the practice squad, but the Browns 53-man roster did not have waivers and was placed on the Browns 53-man roster on December 15, 2015.

Mostert was ruled off waivers by the Cleveland Browns on December 16, 2015. He was named the starting kick returner for the Browns' last three games and totaled 12 kicks for 309 yards.

On March 7, 2016, the Browns' one-year tender contract was signed. He was waived by the Browns on September 4, 2016 to make room for players who requested waivers.

Mostert was signed to the New York Jets' practice squad on September 6, 2016, but only six days later.

Mostert was signed to the Bears' practice squad on September 13, 2016. He was promoted to the active roster on September 21, and was on the 21st on the active roster. In the 2016 season, Mostert appeared in two games with the Bears. He was released on October 3, 2016 and re-signed to the training squad the next day. The Bears cut Mostert on November 24, 2016.

Mostert was signed to the 49ers' practice squad on November 28, 2016. On December 31, 2016, he was welcomed to the active roster. Mostert appeared in the Seattle Seahawks' regular-season finale, which the 49ers barely defeated by a score of 25-23.

With 68 return yards and a six-yard carry, Mostert finished the 2016 season with 68 touchdown yards and a six-yard carry.

Mostert was put on injured reserve on November 29, 2017. In 11 games, he had six carries for 30 passing yards and 83 return yards.

In the first five games of the 2018 season, mostert appeared very sparingly. However, his role as a result of Week 6 has risen. Mostert rushed ten times for 69 yards and a touchdown this week, with two interceptions for 40 yards, including a 35-yard touchdown pass by wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders in the narrow 48-46 road victory over narrow 48-46 road victory. In each of the Atlanta Falcons and Los Angeles Rams games, Mostert scored a rushing touchdown. Mostert had 10 carries for 57 yards and two touchdowns to go along with a 16-yard touchdown in the 26-21 road win over the Seattle Seahawks in the regular-season finale.

Mostert's season ended with 137 attempts for 772 yards and eight touchdowns, as well as 14 receptions for 180 yards and two touchdowns in 16 games and no starts.
