On Thursday, the New York Jets announced former Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson, helping with one of the team's greatest needs. Last season, Jefferson had a career-high 5 1/2 sacks in 17 games, three of whom were starts, including three in the spring. His signing helps offset Sheldon Rankins' departure and Nathan Shepherd's departures, both of whom have left the free agency in search of a new one. The contract's terms were not revealed right away. Tim Boyle has been signed by the Jets to a one-year deal as a backup with experience in offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett's system.
