The rock stars of their day, with rampant sex and mistresses to suit. Along the way, there was apprehension over the assassination of the blackmail and kidnapping

Your Majesty, never mistress; it will only end in tears. Every British monarch over the past 400 years should have received this single piece of advice, but no one of them would have listened. These kings and princes were the rock stars of their day - women flocked and bowed before them, and they could choose whoever they liked. And as many as they wanted. Admittedly murder, blackmail, grand larceny, and kidnapping were all part of bedding these royal mistresses, but their Majesties never shrank above it.

There have been only TEN Princesses of Wales, from vulnerable child brides to steely politicians and machinating murderesses. But, boy, have they made a difference! CHRISTOPHER WILSON ranked them according to history

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 4, 2024
In the nearly 700 years since Prince of Wales' name was established, there have been only ten princesses of Wales. Some people were promised to their destiny as early as two years old, and only a few people were married for love. Some people saw bloody battles and equally brutal political machinations back home, and for several, tragedy was never far away. They were certainly adornments, but they were also significant figures in their own right. Here, royal historian CHRISTOPHER WILSON assigns a score to the princesses based on their contributions to royal history.

Danish queens aren't crowned. But when Margrethe steps down this weekend, her daughter-in-law Mary inherits one of the most fabulous collections of jewellery in the world

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 12, 2024
It's ten thousand miles from Sydney to Copenhagen's Amalienborg Palace. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark has certainly come a long way since she first met Crown Prince Frederik in a Slip Inn pub when the city staged the 2000 Olympics. Mary will have travelled farther on Sunday, but the queen will be Queen by the time evening falls. Queen Margrethe, an 83-year-old mother-in-law, will step down after 52 years on the throne, an abdication announced in a live television broadcast on New Year's Eve to the delight of the Danish people. Margrethe will be replaced by her eldest son Frederick, with Mary as Queen Consort. Mary is already have all the fashions, stylists, and accessories she could possibly need as Crown Princess. But the Australian-born 'commoner' will get something else this weekend: a treasure chest of exquisite jewels to be worn by the queen. And only the queen!

They should have stuck to paper crowns! As these royals discovered, Christmas is a time for thanksgiving and merriment, not Coronations

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 20, 2023
The royals are all about tradition, particularly at this time of year. But there is one 'tradition' in Yuletide that they long ago gave up on - a Coronation. Earlier this year, King Charles preferred May for his enthronement. It was June for his mother, Elizabeth. The summer months were favoured by a generation on generation after generation of their ancestors. Nobody ever mentions Christmas. And for good reason, the two monarchs who attempted it shortly realized their mistake.

To estranged husband George IV, a poem 'written by heartbroken Queen Caroline' was unearthed

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 4, 2023
Caroline of Brunswick, the 'Injured Queen,' may have written the verses, which date back to 1806-7 as a 'Injured Prince' and then the Prince of Wales.' The two couples were caught in a bitter and public contest over discredited claims that Caroline was born out of wedlock. The Queen was notably barred from Westminster Abbey at his coronation in 1821, just weeks before her death. The poem is addressed to 'His Royal Highness' and reads: "An injured Princess, justice is my right.' Caroline is shown in feathered headdress; Princess George is seen peering around a door as George has his gouty foot handled by his mistress (inset).
